At final parade this evening, Sgt Hopkins and Sgt Taylor were promoted to Flight Sergeant, and Cpl Bending and Cpl Gibson were promoted to Sergeant. Congratulations!
Sgt Taylor travelled to the NACATC in Wales. Here she was joined by 17 NCOs from across the corps and participated in a week's adventure training, including white water rafting, gorge walking, kayaking and many other activities.

Exams over for another few months, Harrogate cadets joined cadets from Ripon and took over the Superbowl in Harrogate. Food and bowling were enjoyed by all.
Sgt Taylor took place this weekend on further training for her Everest expedition in the summer. She went to the cadet training centre at Driffield and undertook more grueling training to prepare her for the trek in the summer.

The main pool at the Hydro, complete with inflatables, was booked for an hour this evening and was available to all cadets in the squadron. 15 cadets came along and had a fun time in the pool.

Two mini-buses transported cadets to RAF Linton-on-Ouse, where they met up with Adult Sergeant Roberts for an evening of sports. This was held in the gym and included badminton, basketball and football.
Over the weekend our very own Cpl Katie Taylor competed and was selected as one of the very special participants to go to climb Mt. Everest in August 2008.
Very well done to Cpl Taylor.
On the weekend, Cpl Bending completed his Gliding Scholarship at RAF Topcliffe. This was a great relief for him as he had been waiting quite some time to do his solo flight as the weather was delaying things.

Around 20 cadets from 58 (Harrogate) Squadron were present for the Battle Of Britain memorial service at St. Peter's church, Harrogate.
Following the church service, there was a short laying of the wreaths ceremony at the cenotaph.
An exellent turn out of cadets for the RAFA Harrogate and district branch's Annual Memorial Service at the Airman's Regional Cemetery Stonefall. 58 squadron provided the Guard of Honour.
A number of promotions were made at final parade tonight.

Four cadets from 58 Squadron (Bending, Carey, Hall and Fuller) joined other cadets for a Bank Holiday weekend of adventure training at Hudswell Grange, Catterick. Their time was spent doing fieldcraft, including a night exercise.
On Sunday, Cpl Laing flew solo in the air cadet vigilant glider at RAF Topcliffe and attained his Gliding Scholarship Solo wings badge. This was a great achievement for him as he has never been able to do such an activity.
