The squadron participates in pretty much all official ATC activities, from projects and academic training to sport, flying, adventurous training and annual camps.
Activities in cadets range from something as small and simple as 2 minute talks to a week of strenuous adventure training, or a days flying at RAF Leeming in a small powered aircraft. Unless you are a member of the Air Training Corps, there is little or no opportunity to participate in these.
On these activities cadets will get to meet new people and learn new skill as well as improving on teamwork and leadership skills. These activities can also be competitive, especially sports winning things from inter-flight points in on squadron activities to Corps representation.
There is a never-ending list of activities available to cadets including flying & gliding, sport. shooting, adventure training, field craft, drill, Duke of Edinborough, camps, individual and group projects, etc.
Ask any cadet and invariably, each cadet will share a common interest like flying, camps, and shooting to different interests like their current on squadron project and the different types of adventure training. Some of them are featured here in more detail:
