About 58 Squadron

Squadron nameplate

58 (Harrogate) Squadron is one of the leading squadrons in the Central & East East Yorkshire Wing of the Air Training Corps. With a current strength of approximately 40 cadets, we are strongly represented in all areas of cadet activity and was named as the best squadron in the wing for last year.

We welcome everyone to the squadron. Cadets are encouraged to excel and strive to be the best in all areas of our training, however no particular skills or achiement levels are required. The only requirement to join is that you are between the ages of 13 and 18 - it's as simple as that!

How to find us

The squadron

Our squadron headquarters is situated on Strawbery Dale Avenue, near the centre of town.

When we meet

We parade on every Monday and Friday evening from 7pm to 9:45pm. We continue through all school holidays except Christmas. All stand-downs will be announced.

What it costs

As a probationer you pay nothing. Once you are are enrolled, subs are quite low and can be paid monthly, quarterly or yearly - whichever you find most convenient. You can even pay by standing order if you find this easier! Your uniform will be provided free of charge, but we do ask for a deposit of £20 on issue of uniform. This will be returned to you when you hand your uniform in on leaving the squadron. Current prices are:

Per Month £8
Per Quarter £32
Per Year £96

Every parade night we run a small tuck shop with all goods under 50p. The only other costs incurred during your time with the squadron will be for levies on camps and some other squadron activities. These costs are kept to a minimum. For example, annual camp (which comprises a full week away at an RAF station) normally costs around £30. This figure includes all accommodation, meals and activities - basically everything except sweets and souvenirs.
